FRDA wins approval of the Florida Building Commission for inclusion of new provisions governing placement of electrical conduit on rooftops. The new provision will be part of the 2020 Florida Building Code which is projected to go into effect December 31, 2020. Testifying, FRDA President Dana Dodge of Latite Roofing said, “This is a safety issue…burying electrical conduit in roofing is a bad accident just waiting to happen!” New Section 1510.11 will require cable- and raceway-type wiring when not encased in structural concrete to be supported above the roof system or, where installed under metal corrugated roof decking, supported at least 1-1/2” below the lowest corrugation.
