The Florida Roof Deck Association, Inc. (FRDA) is a Florida statewide association representing contractors, manufacturers and suppliers involved in the manufacture and installation of Lightweight Insulating Concrete Roof Decks. The FRDA has three scholarships levels available to be awarded each year for the spring semester. The scholarships may be awarded $5,000, $2,000, and $1,000 levels. FRDA will award the scholarships criteria defined below and may not award every level of scholarship every year.

Who may apply?

  • Students enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit in an accredited Florida college or university program with an emphasis on architecture, construction, or engineering with a focus on construction.

How and when do I apply?

  • All applications must be received:
  • The 15th day of November prior to the spring semester.
  • Complete the application in accordance with the instructions and send via post to FRDA at:

When will the scholarships be awarded?

  • Applicants will be notified of scholarship awards no later than:
  • The 31st day of December prior to spring semester.

What must accompany the application?

  • The completed application must be returned along with:
  • A transcript for the student’s latest college or university grading period, signed by his/her Guidance Counselor or Academic Advisor.
  • A student introduction of 300 words or less explaining the students history and career goals.
  • The Student’s essay, of 1,000 words or less, on the following topic:
